Do you ever suffer from writer’s block or video creator’s block?
How do you “unblock” a creative block?
This may sound corny, but love takes you to the other side of that block faster than anything else.
I discovered a way to get to the other side of a terrible creative block last week … I dived into a personal project for family. My aunt turned 80. She has 7 kids, a bunch of grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
I created a video for the party … Every single person in her immediate her family appears in the video. (Video appears below.)
It was a labor of love.
I made no attempt to achieve video excellence … there are images where I should have fixed “red eye” … It is highly imperfect on many, many levels. But technical excellence is not what this video is about.
I spent a fair chunk of time assembling images, organizing, and “playing” with this video. It is play, not work.
If you are suffering from any degree of video creator’s block, here’s my advice: Pick a family member who is having a birthday, or an anniversary, and indulge in “play time” creating a video for them. Don’t worry about video excellence. Just have fun and submerge into love and affection and just do it.
Now I am ready for a very creative week of video creation!
In the meantime, I found a very neat video creation tool I am going to play with this week. Looks VERY easy, and very, very cool! Check it out here.
